Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
