19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his first championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after March of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
